What this QR code generator does
This tool turns a link, a piece of text, a Wi-Fi network, a phone number, an email, an SMS or a contact card into a QR code that any phone camera can scan. You can change the colours, the size and the error-correction level, add a small logo in the middle, and download the result as a PNG or an SVG. It is free, it has no watermark, and you do not need an account.
Everything happens inside this page. The code is drawn by your browser, so the link, the Wi-Fi password or the contact details you type are never sent to a server.
Static codes never expire
The codes made here are static. The text you entered is stored directly in the pattern of the squares, which means there is nothing to expire, nothing to renew and no company in the middle. If this website disappeared tomorrow, the QR codes you already printed would keep working, because a phone reads the data straight from the image.
A dynamic QR code is different. It contains a short web address owned by a service, and that service redirects the scan to your real destination. This lets the service count scans and lets you change the destination later, but it also means the code stops working if the service shuts down or you stop paying. Static codes cannot be edited or tracked. The next article in our blog explains the trade-off in more detail: static vs dynamic QR codes.
PNG or SVG?
PNG is a fixed-size picture, perfect for slides, web pages and messages. SVG is a vector drawing that stays sharp at any size, so it is the better choice for posters, packaging and print. If you are unsure, download both.
